Ferrari 612
The last of the production V12 engines to have cambelts. Cambelts are replaced at 31,250 miles or after 3 years, whichever is soonest. There are no valve clearances to check or adjust as hydaulic buckets are fitted. Service intervals are every 12,500 miles, the first being a 6250 mileage service, or annually whichever is soonest. Air bags and seatbelt pre-tensioners should be replaced every 15 years.
Ferrari 430
This model is a generation on again from the 360. Although servicing costs are greatly reduced due to the lack of cambelts, the drive chain is not service free and requires checking for play and damage at 31,250 miles. However, there is no need to check valve clearances as they are hydraulic and this also helps to keep costs down. There is an auxilliary belt for the air conditioning, alternator and ancilliaries which needs to be replaced at every mileage service. Service intervals are at 12,500 miles with the first mileage service at 6,250 miles or every 12 months whichever is soonest. Air bag and seat belt pre-tensioner replacement is every 15 years.
Ferrari 360
The first production Ferrari fully constructed from aluminium and the last of the V8 models to be fitted with cambelts , although service costs are reduced as the belts are replaced with the engine in place. Servicing is broken down into 2 types. Annual servicing is carried out every 12 months regardless of mileage and Mileage services are carried out every 12,500 miles, with the first scheduled for 6,250 miles. Fuel filters are sealed for life within the fuel tank and therefore do not need replacement. All the fluids in the car have their own time period in which they need changing. Cambelts and all the other drive belts must be replaced every 3 years or at 31,250 miles whichever is soonest. There are no valve clearances to check due to hydraulic buckets. There is also a 24 month inspection for chassis protection. Air bag and seatbelt pre-tensioners are replaced every 10 years.
Ferrari 355
The first 5 valve production engine and the last production Ferrari where the engine and gearbox are removed for servicing. Servicing is broken down into 2 types. Annual servicing is carried out every 12 months regardless of mileage and Mileage service intervals depend on the year of the car. Early 355's have a yellow service book and a mileage service interval of 6,250 miles. Later cars have red service books and a mileage service interval of 12,500 miles. We strongly recommend keeping the servicing to schedule. Cambelts and all other drive belts must be replaced on a time basis or at 31,250 miles involving removal of the engine and gearbox subframe. There are no valve clearances to be checked due to hydraulic buckets. All the fluids in the car have their own time period in which they need changing. There is also an under-body protection plan which should be topped up every 24 months. Air bag replacement is every 10 years.
Ferrari 550 / 575
The last of the solid steel chassis V12's and the first V12 engine with hydraulic buckets so no valve clearances to check. Servicing is split into 2 types with annual servicing every 12 months and mileage services every 12,500 miles whichever is soonest. Cambelts and all other drive belts can be replaced with the engine in place but must be replaced every 3 years or 31,350 miles. All the fluids on the car have a time period in which they need changing. There is a 24 month under body protection plan which involves removal of all undertrays to top up underseal. Air bag replacement is every 10 years.
Ferrari 456 / 456M
This four seat grand tourer comes in 2 models - the GTA (Auto transmission) and GT (manual transmission) therefore servicing differs for each gear box. The GTA requires auto box servicing which involves rear bumper removal to replace gearbox filters and change the fluid every 12 months or 20,000 km. Both the 456 and 456M have adjustable valve clearances that require checking every 12,500 miles. Early 456's have a yellow service book and mileage services every 6,250 miles. Later cars have a red service book and mileage servicing every 12,500 miles. Cambelts and all other drive belts are replaced with the engine in place every 31,250 miles or 3 years whichever is soonest. All the fluids in the car have a time period in which they must be replaced. There is a 24 month under body protection plan which involves removal of undertrays to top up the underseal. Air bag replacement is every 10 years.
Ferrari 348 / Mondial 3.4
One of the first V8 production Ferrari's where the engine and gearbox subframe are removed for servicing. Servicing is on the yellow service book so milege services are every 6,250 miles or every 12 months. Cambelts are replaced on a mileage basis or a time basis. There are 2 types of engine each with their own cambelt interval. Early cars with metal cambelt covers have a 2 year or 25,000 mile interval whereas cars fitted with plastic cambelt covers are due at 3 years or 31,000 miles. The reason for the difference was because the cambelts with the metal covers were found to run hotter, thus reducing the life of the belt. Valve clearances should be checked every 6,250 miles.
Ferrari Testarossa / 512TR
The last of the flat 12 cylinder boxer engines. All models require engine removal for cambelt replacement. Service intervals are every 6,250 miles or every 12 months whichever is soonest. Valve clearances need checking every 18,750 miles. Cambelts need changing every 18,750 miles or 2 years. TR's fitted with Bosch Motronic lambda sensors and a charcoal canister need these replaced every 50,000 miles.
Older Ferrari Tipos
With any of the older tipos we tend to work on an individual basis, sitting down with the owner and looking back at the service history to find out what the car has already done and subsequently needs doing. We also tend to look forward and find out how many miles the owner intends to cover for the next 12 months to come up with a sensible service schedule for the up and coming year.
