The Judges are coming
"What Judges?" Clive asks swallowing hard!!!
Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the tipo, Sandra at the Ferrari Owners Club had asked if our 250GTE could be featured on the FOC stand at the NEC Classic Car Show over the 12-14 November.
Not often that the under-appreciated GTE is afforded such fame! After a full mechanical restoration by Emblem and a new interior by our old friends K Baggs the car did well in the FOC Concourse in July with a runner up in class so we were delighted to represent the GTEs' 50th anniversary at the show. Clive also supported for the weekend.
What was not realised was that a "Car of the Show" competition was part of the event.
The result - "Runner Up" . No silverware- just good appreciation
Delighted was an understatement! Let's not forget this is a big show with hundreds of cars. The GTE is a gorgeous understated Ferrari Classic, magnificent lines and all the mechanicals of a California Spider or Berlinetta, for a fraction of the price today. Difficult to believe that all three were the same price on the road in 1960 (£6,666. 17. 2d). Cheap you say? A 3-bed semi would have cost circa £1000!!
Thanks to Peter and the Ferrari Owners Club team who, under Sandra, put in a huge effort on behalf of members over the weekend.
