Salon Prive Concours D'Elegance

Well, what an experience!! Regrettably on judging day the weather turned to heavy showers. However, in true British fashion we soldiered on!! Our three judges, including Vicki Butler-Henderson, huddled under umbrellas in heavy rain to view and discuss the intricacies of our car.

Clearly, the driving factors were stlye and in some cases extreme rarity. For the Ferrari group, the winner was the original and very rare (only 10 were ever made) 275 GTB/4 NART Spyder (1968) with runner up a 225S Barchetta (1952). The top prize of Best of Show went to the 275 GTB/4 NART Sypder. The People's Choice Award for Best Classic Car was the 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS and one cannot disagree that the modest, subtle lines of the 275 GTS are overshadowed by those of the winning trio.

The Emblem team were once again on hand to render support and were all blown away by the quality of cars on display, including an awesome line up of Le Mans original race cars, ranging from the 1957 Aston Martin DBR1 to the magnificent 1969 Porsche 917K. As Derek Bell was presenting the awards, he was reminded that he had once driven at Le Mans in this very car!!

As a personal choice, I would have chosen the Lamborghini Miura Speciale 1973 - awesome in black. But hey, we are all different and I just think the lines are perfect!!! (See full results below)

The free flowing champagne, BBQ lobster and the venue itself was completely OTT. Tim and Myles' prized take away was the beautiful Riva Boats catalogue, which now has pride of place in our workshop.
