250GTE at Salon Prive June 2011
A class of nine 250 models were assembled which made up Class H
1954 - 250 Europa
1956 - 250GT Berlinetta "Tour de Francce"
1958 - 250TR "Pontoon Ferrari"
1959 - 250GT Berlinetta "Interim"
1961 - 250GTE
1961 - 250GT Berlinetta Competizione (ex Stirling Moss)
1961 - 250GT California Spyder Competizione
1964 - 250GT Berlinetta Lusso
1964 - 250 Le Mans
Spectacular cars and a big ask for the GTE to outshine this competition. The long prestigious histories of the competition cars alone make the GTE's sedentary life look dull! If you can possibly call a Ferrari dull.
With good comments from Marcel Massini, the official judge, we had a chance.
Final choice however for class winner was the California Spyder, one of two built as a lightweight competition car. Best interior of the show - the 250 Europa. Beautiful in red and aged like a wonderful old armchair. Gorgeous!!
Car of the Show was a magnificent 1939 Alfa Romeo 6c 2500s Berlinetta by Touring. Originally owned by Mussolini and given to his lover Claretta Retacci. A magnificent Art Deco car, immaculate in every respect and a past winner at Villa D'Este as well as having completed two Mille Miglia's.

We were not crestfallen but very proud to be invited into such company. The car received a lot of attention from admirers and Clive received three offers to sell the car! After a vigorous drive upon return to Poole, just to make the car feel like a racer after a good gallop, it was displayed at Emblems' open day.
Compliments to the Brothers Bagley and Sarah Bagley whoc conceived this event and put on such a show. Even Rod Stewart and his wife braved the weather and admired the great cars.
Loved it!
